Bothell High School came into Friday’s Class 4A football playoff game with a full head of steam, riding high after Diego Palomera’s game-winning field goal clinched the KingCo 4A championship. That thrilling win proved to be a perfect momentum boost, as the Cougars took the field against Olympia and immediately asserted themselves, scoring early and often to secure a commanding 52-14 victory. This win marked Bothell’s third straight and earned them a spot in the next round of the playoffs.
Bothell’s offense established a rhythm early that Olympia struggled to disrupt. The Cougars’ rushing attack, led by the dynamic backfield duo of Wyatt Mickelberry and Cole Brooke, who scored two touchdowns each, consistently wore down the Bears’ defense. Palomera opened the scoring with a 40-yard field goal. Mickelberry continued the scoring with a 36-yard rushing touchdown.
Bothell pulled away from there, with the defense forcing turnovers, including Kingston Fleming-Maile’s 20-yard fumble return for a touchdown that put the Cougars up 31-0 in the second quarter.
Bothell (5-4) advances to the next round of the playoffs next week.
